The Paxoi Islands, also known as Paxos and Antipaxos, are a small group of islands located in the Ionian Sea, just south of Corfu, Greece. Discover Paxos
Paxos, the larger of the two main islands, is famous for its olive groves, scenic harbors, and the picturesque village of Gaios, which serves as the island’s main port. The island offers visitors a peaceful atmosphere, with traditional tavernas, stone houses, and a relaxed pace of life. The west coast of Paxos features dramatic sea caves and limestone cliffs, accessible by boat.
Antipaxos, much smaller and largely uninhabited, is known for its stunning sandy beaches and excellent snorkeling opportunities. Its beaches, such as Vrika and Voutoumi, are often regarded among the best in the Ionian Sea. Antipaxos is also home to vineyards producing local wine, and it's typically accessed via a short boat ride from Paxos.

Blue Caves
The Blue Caves of Paxos are among the most captivating natural wonders in the Ionian Sea. Located along the island's rugged western coast, these sea caves are renowned for their mesmerizing shades of blue, created as sunlight filters through the clear waters
The Blue Caves are accessible only by sea, making boat tours a popular choice for visitors. Many cruises depart from Corfu, Parga, or Paxos itself, often combining visits to the Blue Caves with stops at the nearby islands of Antipaxos and Paxos villages like Gaios or Lakka. These tours typically include opportunities for swimming and snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters.
Villages of Paxos
Loggos, Lakka, and Gaios, each offering its own unique character and experiences. In the island’s interior, you’ll find two smaller villages, Fountana and Magazia. Dotted throughout Paxos are also several small settlements, primarily made up of houses and churches, that add to the island’s tranquil atmosphere.
Centered around a picturesque harbor, Gaios is the bustling heart of Paxos. The main town of the island where the main harbour is located. Known for its vibrant waterfront, rich history, and lively food scene, Gaios offers something for everyone.
Local Culture
Agios Nikolaos Islet,just off Gaios, features the ruins of a Venetian castle built in 1423. Not generally open to the public, but viewable from the harbor or by boat.
Churches & Monasteries
Paxos is dotted with small Orthodox churches, including Agia Marina, Ypapanti, and Analipsi.
